Berkshire Theatre Group Celebrates Elvis' Birthday With Impressionists

Berkshire-Theatre-Group-Celebrates-Elvis-Birthday-Wit-Impressionists-20010101

Berkshire Theatre Group will celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday with two of the finest Elvis Impressionists around, Mike Albert and Scot Bruce, backed by the Big “E” Band, on January 13th at 8pm at The Colonial Theatre.

Tickets to The Elvis Birthday Bash are $15-$45. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Colonial Ticket Office at 111 South Street or by calling (413) 997-4444 or online at www.TheColonialTheatre.org. The Ticket Office is open Monday-Friday 10am–5pm, Saturdays 10am–2pm or on any performance day from 10am until intermission.

Celebrate the King’s Birthday with the ultimate Elvis tribute show starring two of the world’s finest Elvis impressionists. Mike Albert is second to none in bringing to life the Elvis of the '70s, while Scot Bruce looks like, sounds like—and swings his hips like—Elvis in his younger days. Many hit songs made famous by the legendary entertainer are featured in the show, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Burning Love,” “Love Me Tender,” “Jail House Rock” and more.

Mike Albert’s “Ultimate Tribute” show has become known worldwide for the respectful portrayal of the late Elvis Presley. After Mike won several major world “Elvis” contests, the demand for his shows grew so much that he put together a seven piece Big “E” Band, to emulate the sound Elvis’ band had in the Vegas shows and on tour. An appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and being featured in six music videos on the national show A Current Affair, with Maury Povich, further exposed audiences to Mike’s talent.

The actual vocal groups that backed Elvis (the legendary Jordanaires and J.D. Sumner and the Stamps quartet) have toured across the U.S., Europe and as far as Australia and New Zealand with Mike Albert’s show at many large conventions and theaters. Mike’s style and charisma and his ability to get the audience involved in the show have proved to be quite the crowd pleaser.

Scot Bruce, originally from the Pacific Northwest, where he was a radio personality and a drummer, has lived in Los Angeles since 1990. While pursuing music and acting as a career, he started doing a 1950’s era Elvis show as a way to survive the lean times. The result was a surprise to Scot—what was meant as a part-time “gig” to supplement his income, blossomed into a full time career! Because of his uncanny resemblance to the young “King” (and his ability to sing, strum a guitar and swivel his hips), his live show has taken him across the U.S. and all over the world.

As Elvis, Scot has appeared in music videos with Faith Hill and Sheryl Crow. Scot has also appeared in recurring roles on the hit soap operas Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful, a Pizza Hut commercial, the California Lottery “Elvis” ad campaign and in several successful productions of Idols of the King, including the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, the Barter Theatre in Virginia and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery. Recently, he had the honor of performing with the legendary Jordanaires. In the True Hollywood Story: Elvis in Hollywood on the E! Entertainment Network, Scot played Elvis in the recreation scenes. He performs at Disneyland on a regular basis, and tours with the Legends of Rock & Roll – Buddy, Roy & Elvis.

These two talented performers will make the audience feel all shook up with their uncanny and incredibly compelling impressions. A night filled with classic rock, live music and the King, The Elvis Birthday Bash will leave the audience screaming for more.

About Berkshire Theatre Group

The Colonial Theatre, founded in 1903, and Berkshire Theatre Festival, founded in 1928, are two of the oldest cultural organizations in the Berkshires. Having united in November of 2010 under the helm of Artistic Director and CEO Kate Maguire, these two institutions are providing the Berkshires and beyond with the finest in live theatre, music, dance and the visual arts on four stages in Stockbridge, MA, Pittsfield, MA and Lenox, MA. The Fitzpatrick Main Stage (408 seats), cataloged by the National Register of Historic Places, was originally designed and built by Stanford White as the Stockbridge Casino in 1888. The intimate Unicorn Theatre (122 seats) is a home for emerging artists and new theatrical ideas. The Colonial in Pittsfield (800 seats) re-opened in August of 2006, following a $21 million restoration, and boasts pristine acoustics, classic gilded age architecture and state-of-the-art technical systems. BTG also performs at the newly built outdoor Neil Ellenoff stage at the Mount. Together they serve over 100,000 patrons per year and reach over 10,000 students through their educational and outreach programs. For more information on BTF call (413) 298-5536 and on The Colonial call (413) 448-8084. To purchase tickets, call (413) 997-4444 or (413) 298-5576 or go online to www.berkshiretheatre.org or www.thecolonialtheatre.org.
