Boston Globe Columnists to Speak at Huntington Humanities Forum, 3/21

In conjunction with the Huntington Theatre Company's production of Gina Gionfriddo's acclaimed and wickedly funny acclaimed new comedy about a blind date gone bad Becky Shaw, The Boston Globe's "Love Letters" columnist Meredith Goldstein and "Ms. Conduct" columnist Robin Abrahams will dissect the characters from the play and examine other love and relationship issues at the post-show Humanities Forum on Sunday, March 21 immediately following the 2pm performance.

After years of covering nightlife, relationships, and entertainment for The Boston Globe, Meredith Goldstein created "Love Letters," a daily advice column for the local lovelorn. The column, which celebrated its one-year anniversary in January, receives approximately one million hits each month and up to 1,000 reader comments each day. Ms. Goldstein lives in Roxbury.

Robin Abrahams writes the popular "Miss Conduct" social advice column for the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine. Miss Conduct's Mind Over Manners (or MCMom) is her first book. A Cambridge resident with a PhD. in research psychology from Boston University, Ms. Abrahams also works as a research associate at Harvard Business School.

The Huntington Theatre Company continues its 28th season - a season of American stories - with artistic director Peter Dubois' hit 2009 Off Broadway production of Becky Shaw, a wickedly funny black comedy about a blind date gone bad. Named to The New York Times', Entertainment Weekly's, and Time Out New York's Best of 2009 lists, this clever, intricate tale of love, sex, and ethics about a group of complicated 30-somethings inaugurates a multi-year look at American comedy to explore the history and future of the form.

The Boston Herald says Stick Fly is "SEARING, SMART, AND REALLY, REALLY FUNNY! Gina Gionfriddo's one-liners pop like rockets! A comedy so sharp you don't even notice the blade slipping until it's pierced you to the bone. A comedy of manners for moderns. It's clear why Becky Shaw was up for a Pulitzer. It will go down nicely with a stiff drink."

Entertainment critic Joyce Kulhawik calls the production, "OUTRAGEOUSLY AND BRILLIANTLY FUNNY! A tour-de-force masterfully handled by a killer cast. We leapt to our feet at curtain, me with the thought of when, and how soon I could see it again!"
