Quills

Sex. Perversion. Violence. These are the themes of the tales that drip from the ink-laden quills of the notoriously irreverent Marquis de Sade. Nothing can stop him, locked away in the Charenton lunatic asylum because of his licentious habits and scandalous literary works. Deprived of his pen, paper and ink, De Sade continues to write against all odds, and resorts to more desperate stratagems (bearing dreadful and peculiar results).

PLEASE NOTE: This play contains nudity, graphic language and situations. Absolutely no one under 18 will be admitted.

For tickets click here or for more information visit our website.

Gallery Exhibits Opening Reception

The two new Gallery Exhibits, Anthony Fisher: Paintings & Drawings 2007-2011 and Exploring the Dark Side, a juried exhibition are now open in our galleries. We will be welcoming the artists, their friends, families and admirers to Cotuit Center for the Arts on Saturday before the Saturday evening performance of Quills for the opening reception. Please join us and check these exhibits out.

For more information about the exhibits, please visit our website.
In the galleries
Anthony Fisher
Anthony Fisher, Assistant Professor in Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth received his MFA from Yale University in 1986 and his BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1982. Fisher's main focus is painting; his current work explores various themes of the self through metaphors in the still-life and portrait.

Exploring the Dark Side
This juried exhibition will run in tandem with our October production of Quills, the controversial play about the Marquis de Sade. Censorship is a central theme of the play. This show will be juried by renowned artist Anthony Fisher whose work will be featured in a simultaneous solo exhibition.

These Exhibits are through November 14th with the Opening Reception on Saturday, Oct 8th at 5pm.

The galleries are open Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 4pm. Admission is free.
Coming up at Cotuit Center for the Arts

This year's theme: "Sideshow Spectacular". Costume contests, door prizes and dancing round out this October tradition you'll want to be part of. For tickets click here or for more information, visit our website.

A Winter's Solstice Celebration, Dec 1-18

A Medieval celebration including Old English madrigals, carols and dance, Medieval plays and short skits. The audience will enjoy mulled cider and shortbread in the theater set with long banquet tables adorned with greenery, candles and festive tapestries created by art students. We'll have strolling minstrels, wenches and children passing out food and drink, and some well-known carols with audience participation at the end.  Purchase tickets online or call the Box Office at 508-428-0669
