Fort Point Theatre Channel Announce INDISCREET DISCRETION for June 15-23 - Choreographed by Courtney Peix & Contrapose Dance

INDISCRETE-20010101

Fort Point Theatre Channel has announced the world premiere production of INDISCREET DISCRETION by Silvia Graziano with choreography by Courtney Peix and Contrapose Dance and music composed by BrenDan Burns for June 15 5o 23 at 10 Channel Center Street, Fort Point, Boston.

"Where there was id, there shall be ego." – Freud

Fort Point Theatre Channel's playwright and co-artistic director Silvia Graziano's new play takes a deep, dark look at the battle between our human and animal impulses. This premiere production is a chilling story of a trio of characters whose paths cross with surreal results. A big city writer is holed up with his lover in the country and as they discuss his upcoming murder story, a stranger comes upon their house, seemingly the victim of some kind of accident. The three people share secrets, but the inevitable battle for control leads to the question of where their stories of sex and violence will end. The actors will be joined on stage by a pair of dancers from the Contrapose Dance and musician BrenDan Burns, who composed the score for play.

Since its founding in 2007, FPTC has earned a reputation for unique productions that bridge the diverse genres of its 13 artist members and their guests. With Indiscreet Discretion, FPTC takes this further, combining traditional theatre with original dance by Contrapose Dance, and featuring live music composed and performed by BrenDan Burns. The script has a touch of Edgar Allen Poe and Harold Pinter-mixing reality with surrealism-while blending the dark and the delicious.

The acting ensemble is composed of three of Boston's finest: Michael Fisher, Becca A. Lewis, and Victor L. Shopov. They are joined by 2 dancers from Contrapose, Burns, and guest musicians. The expansive, organic set is created by installation artist, Rick Dorff, a member of Fort Point Theatre Channel and a founding member of the Atlantic Works Gallery in East Boston where he shows his work.

The artistic support team for Indiscreet Discretion is: Director: Marc S. Miller; Costume Design: Maureen Festa; Lighting Design: Todd Sargent; Sound Design: Mark Warhol; Set Design: Rick Dorff; Props Design: Amanda Sheehan; Makeup: Maya Landi.

Silvia Graziano, a playwright and poet, is FPTC's co-artistic director and resident playwright. Silvia was co-impresario of FPTC’s Carny Knowledge, and FPTC’s first play festival featured her play The Romantic. In 2010, she was cited as a New Revolutionary in Boston Magazine for her work with Fort Point Theatre Channel. Her one-act play Trapped Inside a Low-fat Twinkie was featured in 2010 in FPTC’s Codes of Conduct. In 2011, she collaborated with Blue Spruce Theatre and composer David Reiffel to win Company One’s Fringe Wars for their musical Potter’s Field Bed and Breakfast. The team’s musical The Royal Institute for the Support and Healing of the Arts qualified them for the finals. Her short play Heads or Tales? was part of FeverFest 2010. Reflecting her interest in psychology, much of Silvia’s writing explores the best and darkest sides of the human condition in celebration of our quest toward self-understanding. Previously an outreach worker, with a focus on the transgendered and chronically ill communities, Silvia has a BFA in dramatic writing from NYU.

Marc S. Miller is FPTC’s co-artistic director and cofounder. He has directed for a number of Boston-area theatres and was a member of the Actors’ Coop of North Carolina. Marc directed FPTC’s productions of 4:48 Psychosis, The Time of Your Life, and Hotel Cassiopeia and Silvia Graziano’s Heads or Tales? Other favorite directing gigs include Arcadia, Pygmalion, Cloud Nine with the Longwood Players; Tone Clusters, Middle-AgEd White Guys, and Arms and the Man with the Theatre Cooperative; Criminal Hearts with Theatre Unanimous (also co-producer); and We Can’t Pay, We Won’t Pay with the Actors Coop of North Carolina. A writer and editor by day, Marc has written or been project director for a dozen books, including several that won major awards. He is a long-time board member and past president of Resist Foundation, www.resistinc.org, and a board member of Fort Point Arts Community, www.forpointarts.org.
