Huntington Wins 8 IRNE Awards

Huntington Theatre Company productions from the 2010 calendar year were honored with eight Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards last night. No theatre company received more awards for their productions than the Huntington.

Stick Fly was the evening's biggest winner, garnering honors for Best Production, Best New Play - Lydia R. Diamond, and Best Director - Kenny Leon. Playing February-March 2010, Stick Fly was the region's hit of the spring.

Actors Will Lyman and Karen MacDonald were recognized as Best Actor and Best Actress respectively for their performances in All My Sons, directed by David Esbjornson, which played January-February 2010.

Ronete Levinson and Stephen Lee Anderson received awards for their supporting performances in Bus Stop, directed by Nicholas Martin, which played September-October 2010.

Tony Award-winning scenic designer Eugene Lee received the award for Best Scenic Design for his work on the world premiere of Bob Glaudini's Vengeance is the Lord's, directed by Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois in November-December 2010.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards were founded by Beverly Creasey of the Journal Newspapers and Larry Stark of TheaterMirror in 1997. The IRNE Awards recognize the extraordinary wealth of talent in the Boston theatre community. The IRNE Committee is comprised of David Brooks Andrews, Sheila Barth, Jules Becker, Kay Bourne, Beverly Creasey, Shirley Esthimer, Richard Fahey, Guy Giampapa, Norm Gross, Bryce Lambert, Beatrice Lee, Kilian Melloy and Larry Stark.
