New Rep Presents Truman Capote's HOLIDAY MEMORIES, 12/9-23

New-Rep-Presents-Truman-Capotes-HOLIDAY-MEMORIES-129-23-20121128

New Repertory Theatre announces Truman Capote's heart-warming stories, HOLIDAY MEMORIES, December 9 through 23, 2012, performing in the Charles Mosesian Theater, Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA. Tickets range from $28-58 and may be purchased by calling 617.923.8487 or by visiting www.newrep.org. The press performance is Monday, December 10, at 7:30pm.

"We're delighted to present HOLIDAY MEMORIES this season," says Managing Director Harriet Sheets, "not only as an alternative to the usual holiday fare, but especially due to the quality of the Capote stories that make up the play: The Thanksgiving Visitor and A Christmas Memory."

"The play," says Artistic Director, Jim Potosa, "celebrates the impact of theatre when viewed together by families of all kinds. In it we create and share each of our holiday rituals, the impact of our friendships, and the joy of giving to each other. All of it wrapped up in the excellence of Capote's powerful and imagistic writing and its evocations of the rural South that was home to his boyhood."

The HOLDIAY MEMORIES cast features Adrianne Krstansky (as Miss Sook), Marc Carver (as Truman), Michael John Ciszewski (as Buddy), Jesse Hinson (as Man), and Elizabeth Anne Rimar (as Woman).

This heartfelt drama combines Truman Capote's short stories "The Thanksgiving Visitor" and "A Christmas Memory." Based on his childhood in mid-Depression, deep south of Alabama country life, Capote finds poetry in the everyday activities leading up to Christmas. Eight-year-old Buddy and his older eccentric cousin Miss Sook embark on their annual pre-holiday rituals of making handmade ornaments, baking treats, and searching for the perfect Christmas tree. Called "an evening of fond reminiscences" by The Chicago Tribune, these American tales reveal tender moments of friendship, fruitcakes, and the joy of giving.
