Photo Coverage: Inside Opening Night of LORD OF THE FLIES at Barrington Stage Company

Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, presents the premiere of one of the 20th century's greatest novels, William Golding's Lord of the Flies, adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams, and directed by Barrington Stage Associate Artist Christopher Innvar (The Whipping Man and The Collyer Brothers). Lord of the Flies will be presented on the Mainstage from October 5 through 23. Check out photos from opening night below!

A coming-of-age adventure story begins with a group of English school boys stranded on an island and ends with them as savages, playing life and death games. Lord of the Flies has been named one of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century by TIME Magazine and ranked #25 out of 100 on the Modern Library 100 Best Novels list.

Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Barrington Stage's mission is three-fold: to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways to bringing new audiences into the theatre-especially young people. Barrington Stage garnered national attention in 2004 when it workshopped, and premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin's musical hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which later transferred to Broadway's Circle-in-the-Square Theatre where it won two Tony Awards and played more than 1,000 performances. In 2009/2010 Barrington Stage produced the world premiere of Mark St. Germain 's Freud's Last Session, which later moved Off-Broadway to the Marjorie S. Stephen's life seems to have always revolved around a camera and a piano. He studied at Manhattan School of Music and performed in the "Borsht Belt" during college vacations, where in the true DIRTY DANCING tradition he met his wife Eda. Stephen was a Board Member of the First All Children's Theater and his wife, a classical pianist, is a Board Member of Barrington Stage Co. In between he made time to be CEO of a multi national machinery company and President of a domestic Textile Mfg. Co. In retirement, he now takes pictures of his 5 grandchildren and various other performers.
