Photo Coverage: LA CAGE Opening Night at Reagle Players
Zaza, Georges, Les Cagelles and their enthusiastic guests celebrated a rousing opening night of La Cage Aux Folles at the Reagle Players in Waltham, Massachusetts on Friday, August 14. The gorgeously mounted and delightfully staged production directed by Broadway's original Phaedra David Scala is the third and final installment in the Boston area company's season-long tribute to Lifetime Achievement Tony Award winner Jerry Herman. Now in its 40th anniversary year, the Reagle Players opened in June with Hello, Dolly! starring Rachel York and continued in July with Mame starring Lee Meriwether.
La Cage Aux Folles, starring David Engel as Albin and Jamie Ross as Georges, boasts what might arguably be considered Herman's most romantic score. Featuring the charming "With You on My Arm," the tender "Song on the Sand," the loving "Look over There," as well as the celebratory "The Best of Times" and the inspirational anthem "I Am What I Am," La Cage combines the comedy and pathos of Harvey Fierstein's Tony Award-winning book with Herman's jubilant and touching Tony Award-winning score. Performances continue at the Robinson Theater, 617 Lexington Street in Waltham, through August 22. Tickets range from $32-54 and are available in person at the Box Office, by calling 781-891-5600, or online at www.reagleplayers.com.
