Musical theater villains are the characters we love to hate. They are enigmas. Their actions within the plot of any given musical paint them as despicable people who merit neither regard nor affection, and yet, we leave the theater humming wonderful, memorable melodies, and inwardly smiling. But their status as villains relegates their songs to the background. Join Canton's Spotlight Players for an evening of wicked fun when the villains of musical theatre take the stage to have their say in their 'From the Shadows: The Villains Take the Stage" cabaret, October 12 and 13 at 8:00 p.m.

The Skidmore College Department of Theater is pleased to announce its Fall 2011 mainstage production, PASSION PLAY by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Carolyn Anderson. Los Angeles Philharmonic Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale and soloists in the world premiere of the PROLOGUE TO ORANGO, Shostakovich's unfinished opera, at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, at 8 p.m., as well as Sunday, December 4, at 2 p.m. The satirical opera about a half-man, half-ape, was sketched in 1932, and discovered in 2006, at Moscow's Glinka Museum by Russian musicologist Olga Digonskaya. At the request of Shostakovich's widow and Digonskaya, British composer Gerard McBurney developed the orchestration of ORANGO in 2009.

Autistic Man Debuts Comedy Act at Gotham City Comedy Club

Autistic man, Peter Eichler, is set to debut his comedy act on October 16 at 6 pm in NYC at the Gotham City Comedy Club. Peter Eichler (43) of South Orange, NJ suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a mild form of autism. Comedy has become part of his personal therapy program.
